August 26-27 in Sweden (Stockholm) was the last stage of the World Series of Triathlon before the World Championships in Rotterdam. The winners of the race were Jonathan Brownlee from Great Britain and Flora Duffy from Bermuda. At the prizes Jessica Learmonth from the UK and Ashleigh Gentle from Australia, and for men Norwegian Kristian Blummenfelt and Frenchman Pierre Le Corre. It should be noted that the race turned out to be one of the most dynamic in this season. On the eve of the World Series all the favorites were in full combat readiness. And, unlike last years, when the last stage of the World Series was held on the European continent, and the world championship on the other coast of the ocean - holding a bunch of races on one climatic belt significantly influenced the spectacle of the stage in Stockholm.
The men emerged a group of leaders, led by the Slovak Richard Varga, in which there was not one leader of the World Series of Spaniard Mario Mola. The bike race was started by a group of leaders, led by Jonathan Brownlee, with whom more than ten participants rode. During the cycling race, the number of leaders decreased and six, and the first to enter the transit zone came Jonathan Brownlee, Aaron Royle from Australia, Swiss Andrea Salvisberg, Jonas Schomburg, Frenchman Dorian Coninx and German Justus Nieschlag. On the run, there was no equal to Jonathan Brownlee, who won the race. And the prizes were played by participants from the group of pursuers, Kristian Blummenfelt and Pierre Le Corre, who showed the best time on the run, like Ryan Sissons from New Zealand, who finished fourth. In the fifth place, Justus Nieschlag finished, and in the sixth place another fast runner Thomas Bishop from Great Britain. Seventh place belongs to the leader of the World Series of Spaniard Mario Mola. In the top 10 finished Australian Aaron Royle, Dane Andres Schilling and Vian Sullwald from South Africa.
The women, along with Jessica Learmonth, came with a group of leaders, but after the "passport check" on the cycling race, three participants were selected for the group of leaders: Jessica Learmonth, Flora Duffy and Katie Zaferes from the US, who left the pursuers for more than a minute and a half. Unfortunately, in one of the turns lay on the asphalt Katie Zaferes, who was in excellent racing form and could compete for the victory at the stage! The American decided to finish the race ahead of schedule. On the run, the duo of the leaders retained the advantage over the pursuers. The race is won by World Series leader Flora Duffy. Jessica Learmonth finishes in second place. And the vacant seat on the podium is another race favorite, Ashleigh Gently, which became the first of the pursuers. Continues to demonstrate good preparation and Canadian Johanna Brown - fourth place. The fifth place belongs to the Japanese Yuko Takahashi. In the top 10, the Frenchwoman Leonie Periault, Claire Michel from Belgium, Kirsten Kasper from the United States, Italian Alice Betto and Andrea Hewitt from New Zealand finished.
